Final Details

Howdy!

We hope you are excited about attending the Future A&M Engineers Conference on March 7-8, 2008. There are a few things we want to tell you so make sure you read this completely.

PLEASE NOTE THE TIME CHANGE ON MARCH 8, 2009! We will lose an hour...SPRING FORWARD!

Transportation:

  • You are responsible for transportation to and from the conference.
  • Your child may drive themselves, or ride with other students. Please discuss safe driving habits with them to ensure a safe journey. Please store the following contact number in your child's cell phone if any problems arise on the way: Rachel Phillips (512) 944-6005
  • Parents or schools may choose to transport their children. If accommodations are needed, please see below for more information.

Arriving at the Conference:

  • We will have signs posted around campus to follow to the conference.
  • Free Parking is available in Lot 50 (*please see map below)
  • All students should report to the tent at Lot 50 to drop off luggage; this includes students being dropped off.
  • Be sure to get anything out of your bags that you may need for the day (meds, phone, wallet/purse)
  • Students and Parents will be escorted to the Check-In from Lot 50
  • Optional campus tours will be available between 9 and 10 am, leaving every 10 minutes.

Items to Bring:

  • Sleeping Bag/Pillow
  • Comfortable Clothing (weather appropriate)
  • Comfortable Walking Shoes
  • Toiletries (toothbrush/paste, shower items, hygiene, etc.)
  • Towel
  • Souvenir Money (optional, but recommended)
  • Medication (please see below for more information)

*Please pack lightly because you may have to transport your luggage by yourself.

The itinerary is shown below. Parents are asked to leave following the opening presentation; however, you are invited to the design competition at the end. Food will be available for all guests.

Accommodations for Parents/Chaperones:

Any persons travelling with participants will be responsible for making their own accommodation reservations. Participants will be staying in on-campus residence halls. We have compiled a list of local hotels for your convenience. The FAME Conference is not responsible for making or funding accommodations. Please book rooms early as there are many events taking place in the B/CS area that weekend. If you do not make reservations and later decide to stay, most hotels do keep rooms for same-day check-in.

Medication and Special Needs:

If your child requires medication, he or she will be held responsible for taking it. If the medicine needs to be supervised or administered, please fill out the consent form below and bring it to the conference. We will have a locked room in which medicine can be stored. A refrigerator is also available if needed. We will only administer medication with the child's name on it and per the directions on the bottle. Also, please notify us of any special dietary needs.
